The Board of Training is made up of seven unsalaried residents elected to serve a 3-year time period. The mission of the Howard County Board of Schooling (BOE) is to provide leadership for excellence in instructing and studying by fostering a climate for deliberative change by means of policy and community engagement. The members of the Board are elected by the voters of the District for three-yr staggered phrases with two or three members being elected each year.
The awards use the Washington State Achievement Index and are based on statewide assessment information for the three previous years. The Board consists of 11 members (9 voting members and two non-voting members) appointed by the Governor with the advice and consent of the Senate.
The State Board also appoints the State Superintendent of Colleges, who serves a 4-12 months term. The Secretary and Treasurer are appointed by the Board and should or may not be members of the Board. The selected appointee will be introduced during the July 25, 2017, Board meeting. The State Board of Training doesn’t assist organizations utilizing the Washington State Achievement Index to subject a collection of A – F- grades for schools.
The Board of Training is charged with the task of monitoring the Meriden Public Colleges’ progress in reaching these goals and with implementing modifications to its mission assertion and goals to most appropriately reflect the wants of its students.
