In the Northern part of America and Canada we have large type of deer known as caribou. You may be wondering what caribou is but in Canada it is a different story as it is regarded as one of the important national symbols. Unfortunately enough, the population of caribou in Canada has been dropping at a very higher rate due to some factors. Some of the things that has resulted into the reduction of this animal are; industrial development, global warming, they are also running away from wolves which eat them as prey and many other factors as well.
When the situation finally become worse there was a joint agreement between different companies to work together to restore the habitat of this animals which was even joined by some of the companies that contributed to great destruction while they were mining oil and gas. When they were trying to create the corridors as they look for routes and places to mine oil a lot of land fragmentations occurred which led to destruction of large parts of the forest.
This made them to come at a consensus and changed their methods mining to better ones. The older destructive techniques were replaced by new ones which were majorly making sure that there was maximum production of oil and gases and apart from that they were also aiming at faster recovery of the forests by causing minimal disturbance. Despite all this effort they were not able to regain it full as some of the long trenches that were made were not safe as wolves could still find them in eat them since they had not recovered fully.
What Do You Know About Habitats
Due to failed efforts several companies decided to join hands in restoring the quality of forest protecting these wild animals. The better part with this was that this companies decided to use different techniques in arriving at the solution. Among other projects we had Algar Historic Restoration Project and the Linear Deactivation Project which was also known as LiDea.
Learning The Secrets About Environments
Some of the methods that they deployed was to replant the trees and shrubs along the trenches. Because of the wetlands and blogs in this regions they were able to replant many trees especially during the winter season using the methods they had agreed on previously.
Apart from that, they have also been able to engage in several activities like mounding, seeding a coarse woody material placement just to preserve these animals. In addition to that, monitoring of wildlife was also facilitated through wildlife monitoring program that they formed. After the completion they decided to monitor their project with each of them being responsible.
